Gender Equity Sensatization

Under its Operational Plan (OP) GNSPU also arranges Workshops, Training Programmes on Gender Sensitization for the officials working under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Until now GNSPU has organized eight Training Programmes at Divisional Level on Gender, Equity & Voice and Accountability (GEVA) issues in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna, Rangpur, Bogra, and Barisal. A total of 225 participants have been trained until end of April 2013. Among them, the male and female participants were 95 and 130 respectively.

The overall objective of the workshops is to sensitize the local level officials to make responsive decisions in relation to gender related occurrences. The specific objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Equip the participants with basic concepts on gender, institutional approaches for protecting and prompting the health and rights of women and international initiatives on gender
  • Facilitate translating the newly acquired knowledge into practice through problem identification and exploration of problem solving approaches in order to make effective and efficient responses to the occurrence
